Radiodetection – your partner in damage prevention
Radiodetection is a world leader in the design and development of equipment, used by utility companies, to help install, protect and maintain their infrastructure networks. Our product range includes tools for the location and avoidance of buried services and powerful video systems for pipeline inspection.
Damaging buried utilities can be extremely dangerous. It can also be very expensive, in both financial terms and loss of reputation. Utility owners around the world rely on Radiodetection products to keep their assets safe and Radiodetection offers two ranges of cable and pipe locating tools to reflect the range of legislation and best practice in different countries.
Precision Locators
Subsurface utility infrastructure is growing ever denser and ever more complex, meaning locate professionals require more capable tools to simplify the task of distinguishing between and tracing different utilities.
The RD7100™ and RD8100™ ranges of precision locators are designed to accurately locate a broad range of buried utilities in a wide range of situations. Featuring a unique arrangement of five custom antennas and with optional integrated GPS and usage logging, the RD7100 and RD8100 allow users to remain on the right line while enabling them to demonstrate safe working practices and validate the quality of the work performed.
Cable Avoidance Tools
In many countries, excavators need an easy-to-use but powerful tool to avoid cable strikes. Radiodetection pioneered the Cable Avoidance Tool (C.A.T) to prevent accidental damage to underground services when excavating.
Several years ago, Radiodetection introduced on-board data logging in response to the growing focus on reducing cable strikes. Cable strikes are a serious problem, potentially causing harm to workers as well as damage to the underground infrastructure. Logging the data from cable avoidance tools allows companies to monitor and improve the on-site performance of their teams.
No matter which approach is taken, it is vital that locators are used with matching signal transmitters e.g. Radiodetection's Genny4™ or Tx-10 transmitters. The correct use of transmitters allows straightforward location of cables that are otherwise difficult to find.

Ground Penetrating Radar Systems (GPR)
The RD1100™ and RD1500™ use ground penetrating radar as an alternative technology for the accurate location of underground utilities. Enhanced damage prevention is offered through both products' ability to locate non-conductive utilities, such as plastic ducts, as well as conductive cables and pipes. Both the RD1100 and RD1500 offer internal GPS, on-board WiFi and a high-resolution touch screen.

The RD1500 provides all the great features of the RD1100 and additionally offers Depth Slices as well as Line Views. These allow the user to review slices of the subsurface at different depths, displaying cables, pipes and other utilities in unprecedented clarity.
